Premier League Gameweek 24 Team of the Week

James Budgen

Alisson

Liverpool haven't had to rely on their keepers much this season, but when they have, they usually are reliable, and Alisson was called upon at the Vitality and he did not let his side down.

Alsison made 4 saves, with 3 of them coming from shots inside the penalty area, with the notable being a close range stop from Antoine Semenyo, with Alisson coming quickly off his line to cut the angle and saving his low shot.

Djed Spence

Spurs needed defensive resilience and fight to end their 7 game winless streak and no other defender under Ange Postecoglou showed this more than Djed Spence at the Gtech Community Stadium.

Spence's big moment came late in the game, clearing a certain goal of the line to deny Brentford levelling up the game, this topped of a great performance from the 24 year old. who had 5 clearances, 1 blocked shot, 1 interception, 4 tackles and won 8/12 of his duels.

Macence Lacroix

Lacroix continued his brilliant form at Palace this season in their trip to Old Trafford, dealing with everything United threw at him with the ease and composure he has done all season.

Lacroix made 11 clearances, 4 interceptions, 3 tackles, 1 blocked shot and won 7/11 of his duels, keeping his side a 4th consecutive away clean sheet.

Murillo

Whilst Forest's attack was the showcase, you can't forget their defensive stability against Brighton, who came into the game with an intent to attack, and with all the attacking talent at Brighton's disposal, Murillo was always a step ahead.

Murillo made 6 clearances, 2 interceptions, 2 tackles and won 6/8 of his duels, whilst also on the ball, he was excellent, completing 27/30 of his passes, including, 7/10 of his long balls and 3/3 of his dribbles attempted.

Myles Lewis-Skelly

Lewis-Skelly put in a performance against the reigning champions beyond his years, comfortable going forwards and backwards from left-back, giving Phil Foden absolutely nothing down his side.

Lewis-Skelly won 8/9 of his duels, as well as putting in 2 tackles and 2 clearances to go along with his well taken goal with his weaker right foot to give Arsenal their crucial two goal advantage.

Jean-Ricner Bellegarde

Bellegarde was a man possessed in the Wolves midfield against Aston Villa, popping up all over the park in his side's crucial win to get out of the bottom three.

Along with his very well taken goal to give his side the lead in the first half, Bellegard made 3 tackles, 2 interceptions, 1 clearance and won 6/8 of his ground duels, whilst also completing 23/26 passes and 3/4 long balls.

Declan Rice

The one thing the current iteration of Manchester City's midfield hate playing against is physicality and Declan Rice combined both an elite physical presence and on-ball qualities in his side's win over City.

Rice's quick instinct and reactions to Manuel Akanji being stuck on the ball led to Arsenal winning the ball in a dangerous position for their opening goal.

Rice also provided two assists in this game, one for Myles Lewis-Skelly and the other for Ethan Nwaneri.

James Garner

After an injury plagued season, James Garner looked back to his best in Everton's 4-0 demolition of Leicester City, showcasing his good on and off ball work.

This included one of the best through balls you'd see this season for Beto, threading the needle through the middle of Leicester's team. As well as his outrageous assist, Garner also created 2 big chances, won 5/5 of his duels as well as making 2 tackles, 3 clearances and 1 interception.

Anthony Elanga

Elanga has really honed in on his role in Forest's side, always making quality runs in behind and becoming a lot more of a threat on the ball, showcased by his 3 assists against Brighton.

His three assists were of great quality as well, with his first a great whipped-in corner for Morgan Gibbs-White, his second a perfectly placed back-post cross for Chris Wood and his third a great showcase of his close control and pace to get to the by-line and cross to Wood for an open goal.

Chris Wood

Like Elanga, Wood has perfected his role at Forest, being the target man, who needs to be in the right places at the right time for the flair players to create for him.

Wood's hat-trick was of a typical target man, finding himself unmarked at the back-post for a free header for his first goal, perfectly placed across goal to tap-in from Elanga's cross and scoring a penalty to net his 17th Premier League goal of the season.

Beto

Having not scored for over two months, Beto couldn't have asked for a much better game against Leicester, scoring twice in the first half side as his side blew away Leicester City.

He took both of his strikes with composure that hasn't been attributed to him as an Everton player, perfectly placing both his strikes into the bottom corner, giving the keeper no chance for either strike.
