Every Premier League Clubs' January Transfers Grades

James Budgen

Arsenal - D

They needed some added attacking flair to help with their title push. Losing Gabriel Jesus to injury should've triggered plans to bring in a striker, whether on loan, like Randal Kolo-Muani, or a permanent option, but with Bukayo Saka and Gabriel Jesus out, their attack lacks a bit of flair.

Outs

Marquinhos - Cruzeiro - Loan

Aston Villa - B

Villa were by far the most active club, but it looks like they have only looked at the short terms, selling young assets in Jhon Duran and Jaden Philogene, and whilst they got big fees, it seems very short sighted. They did bring in potential quality in Malen, Rashford and Asensio, but have all struggled for consistency and are a risk for Villa to make big changes in the middle of the season.

Donyell Malen - Borussia Dortmund - £21million

Andres Garcia - Levante - £6million

Axel Disasi - Chelsea - Loan

Marcus Rashford - Manchester United - Loan

Marco Asensio - Paris Saint Germain - Loan

Jhon Duran - Al-Nassr - £65million

Jaden Philogene - Ipswich - £20million

Diego Carlos - Fenerbahce - £8.5million

Emi Buendia - Bayer Leverkusen - Loan

Samuel Iling-Junior - Middlesbrough - Loan

Kosta Nedeljkovic - RB Leipzig - Loan

Lewis Dobbin - Norwich - Loan

Joe Gauci - Barnsley - Loan

Bournemouth - B+

Whilst Bournemouth could've been more bold in this window to maybe help for their push for European football, I don't mind their approach to the window, letting go of players in Aarons and Billing who aren't in their future plans, and investing more in young talent with bright potential futures.

Ins

Eli Junior Kroupi - FC Lorient - £10million

Julio Soler - Lanus - £6.5 million

Matai Akinmboni - D.C. United - £1million

Outs

Max Aarons - Valencia - Loan

Phillip Billing - Napoli - Loan

Eli Junior Kroupi - FC Lorient - Loan

Mark Travers - Middlesbrough - Loan

Brentford FC - A-

With Brentford sitting comfortably in mid-table, there was no real reason for them to go all-out this window, so they swapped right backs, brining the younger and higher potential Kayode for the older Roerslev.

Ins

Michael Kayode - Fiorentina - Loan

Outs

Mads Roerslev - VfL Wolfsburg - Loan

Matthew Cox - Crawley Town - Loan

Ellery Balcombe - Motherwell FC - Loan

Ryan Trevitt - Exeter City - Loan

Jayden Meghoma - Preston North End - Loan

Brighton & Hove Albion - C

Whilst Brighton went big again this January, they again haven't fixed their big defensive issues. Whilst Cashin could plug some holes, they continue to not invest big numbers in their defence, which definitely has cost them at times this season.

Ins

Stefanos Tzimas - 1.FC Nuremberg - £21million

Diego Gomez - Inter Miami - £11million

Eiran Cashin - Derby County - £9million

Outs

Jakub Moder - Feyenoord - £1million

Imari Samuels - Dundee FC - Undisclosed

Evan Ferguson - West Ham United - Loan

Julio Enciso - Ipswich Town - Loan

Stefanos Tzimas - 1.FC Nuremberg - Loan

Valentin Barco - R. Strasbourg - Loan

Chelsea - C-

The reason Chelsea are getting a C- is the confusing nature of their dealings, loaning out players they have recently brought and played roles in their Europa Conference League endeavours. Also, like Brighton, they are crying out for a better quality centre-back, which would've really helped for their Champions League push.

Cesare Casadei - Torino - £11million

Joao Felix - AC Milan - Loan

Renato Veiga - Juventus - Loan

Carney Chukwuemeka - Borussia Dortmund - Loan

Ben Chilwell - Crystal Palace - Loan

Caleb Wiley - Watford - Loan

Crystal Palace - B-

With Crystal Palace settled in mid-table after their poor start to the season, there was no need to go all out this window. Bringing in quality in Chilwell and potential in Esse is a good window, especially in January, but losing Chalobah back to Chelsea and not replacing him, leaving them severely lacking in depth at centre-back could cause them problems if they pick up some injuries.

Romain Esse - Millwall - £12million

Ben Chilwell - Chelsea - Loan

Outs

Jeffrey Schlupp - Celtic - Loan

Rob Holding - Sheffield United - Loan

Luke Plange - Motherwell FC - Loan

Trevor Chalobah - Chelsea - End of Loan

Everton - C

A few weeks ago, when Everton were in the relegation zone, this window would've been an F, but with them creating a comfortable back ,there was no need for panic signings. Bringing in a young Alcaraz to bolster their aging is a positive, but a couple more investment into younger quality attackers could've really helped them in their recent push up the table.

Ins

Carlos Alcaraz - Flamengo - Loan

Outs

Harrison Armstrong - Derby County - Loan

Fulham - B

Fulham did not have to do anything significant this window, and just keeping a lot of their quality players is a positive, and adding to their already good depth with Willian can only help in a potential European push this season.

Jaden Philogene

Ipswich Town - D

Yes, they brought in some good quality in Philogene, but Ipswich didn't strengthen in the areas which could've really helped them in their relegation fight. Ipswich have been starving for quality in their central defence and midfield, and Ipswich could've added some quality players, even just on loan to aid their fight at the bottom of the league.

Ins

Jaden Philogene - Aston Villa - £20million

Alex Palmer - West Brom - 1.5million

Julio Enciso - Brighton - Loan

Ben Godfrey - Atalanta - Loan

Outs

George Edmundson - Middlesbrough - £500,000

Harry Clarke - Sheffield United - Loan

Ali Al-Hamadi - Stoke City - Loan

Leicester City - F

Like Ipswich, Leicester should've been active in this window as their fate has not been sealed yet, but instead they have kept their side mostly the same. With the success of having Facundo Buenonote on loan this season, you'd have thought the loan market would interest them, but staying put as they are could cost them a place in the Premier League next season.

Ins

Woyo Coulibaly - Parma - £2.5million

Outs

Tom Cannon - Sheffield United - £10million

Hamza Choudhury - Sheffield United - Loan

Will Alves - Cardiff City - Loan

Liverpool - B

With Liverpool barely active in the summer, it could've been prudent for them to plan ahead this January with a few young players they could bed in over the second half of the season. Despite this, they are clearly on a roll this season, and there's no need to risk disruption when they still have everything to play for.

Marcelo Pitaluga - Fluminese - Loan

Stefan Bajcetic - UD Las Palmas - Loan

Calvin Ramsay - Kilmarnock FC - Loan

Manchester City - C

Whilst City have spent an absurd amount of money in January, they still haven't fixed their big problems in the squad, with a lack of a natural right back and lack of legs and ball-winning skills in the midfield. The players they have bought may come good and contribute in the future, but with Champions League on the line this season, you'd have thought City would fix their problems areas.

Manchester United - C-

Patrick Dorgu and ayden heaven

United have fixed one of their problems in this window, bringing in a natural left wing-back to with high potential in Dorgu, but they led rid of Rashford and Antony, leaving them with just four attackers in a squad which was already lacking creativity and goals.

Ins

Patrick Dorgu - Lecce - £25million

Ayden Heaven - Arsenal - £1million

Outs

Marcus Rashford - Aston Villa - Loan

Antony - Real Betis - Loan

Daniel Gore - Rotherham - Loan

Ethan Wheatley - Walsall - Loan

Newcastle United - E

Newcastle have a real chance of Champions League qualification and instead of adding to their squad, they took away from it. Newcastle's squad already lacked depth and just a few injuries could see their Champions League chances dwindle down quickly.

Outs

Miguel Almiron - Atlanta United - £8million

Lloyd Kelly - Juventus - Loan

Isaac Hayden - Portsmouth - Loan

Alex Murphy - Bolton - Loan

Nottingham Forest - A-

Like with some other teams, there was no need for Nottingham Forest to be active in this window, with their squad already having quality and depth to it, there was no need to potentially disrupt their great season to bed in new signings, with their chemistry and morale at such a high.

Southampton - F

Whilst Southampton know they are going back down to the Championship next season, it would've been beneficial for them to get in some talents now to bed into their squad for their push back to the Premier League next season, but they have mostly stood still.

Tottenham Hotspur - B+

Mathys Tel
Image: Spurs

With all the injury problems Spurs have had this season, and the position they find themselves in the league, it was imperative they added some players and despite it coming late on, they did add some quality, with potential as well. Whilst their signings aren't certain starters when everyone is fit, they have potential, especially Tel, and it fits into the signings they have made recently.

Ins

Anonin Kinsky - Slavia Prague - £14million

Min-Hyeok Yang - Gangwon FC - £2.5million

Mathys Tel - Bayern Munich - Loan

Kevin Danso - Lens - Loan

Outs

Min-Hyeok Yang - QPR - Loan

West Ham United - B-

With West Ham going through a lot behind the scenes in this window, bringing in Graham Potter and a new recruitment department, there was never going to be a lot action at the Hammers. Whilst Ferguson is a good loan option, after Niklas Fulkrug and Michal Antonio's injuries, not having a buy option is not ideal as even if he helps West Ham now, he will be back at Brighton this summer.

Ins

Evan Ferguson - Brighton - Loan

Outs

Maxwel Cornet - Genoa - Loan

Wolves - B+

Emmanuel Agbadou
Image: Getty

Unlike the teams around them at the bottom of the table, Wolves showed some ambition and added quality to their squad this window, and whilst its not well-known quality, just adding depth and some quality to their squad is a much better job then the teams fighting for survival around them.

Ins

Emmanuel Agbadou - Stade Reims - £16.5million

Marshall Munetsi - Stade Reims - £15million

Nasser Djiga - Red Star Belgrade - £10million

Outs

Luke Cundle - Millwall - £1million

Tawanda Chirewa - Huddersfield - Loan
